Our story

We are an Australian company delivering integrated process solutions to a broad range of markets.

We focus on providing clients outcomes that are economically superior and environmentally sustainable over traditional methods. We achieve this through innovative technology with high value application in minerals extraction, treatment of waste water and industrial fluids, and remediating contaminated materials.

Background

We recognise that nature has the answers to many modern day problems. We drew inspiration from the science behind the creation of sea foam that is produced during storms.

We studied technology from the aquarium industry that controls the level of contaminates and metals in water to support a healthy aquatic environment. We designed and engineered a process that combined these to create Evocra’s cutting-edge Ozofractionative Catalysed Reagent Addition (OCRA) process.

The first commercial scale plant was installed in 2011 to eliminate the effects of a mining related industrial effluent being released into a highly sensitive environmental. OCRA has now evolved into a process applicable to treat a wide range of minerals and contaminants across numerous sectors including mineral processing and refining; oil and gas extraction; agriculture and aquaculture; high intensity industrial manufacturing, municipal water and wastewater treatment; and contaminated land remediation.

OCRA has successfully removed heavy metals, metalloids, cyanide, salts, nutrients volatile and semi-volatile hydrocarbons and intractable organic compounds, such as organic chlorinated pesticides (OCP’s) and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from a variety of waste fluids and contaminated leachates.

The OCRA Process

The OCRA process has a demonstrated ability to reduce the cost of treatment by up to 60%, via maximised reagent efficiency and minimising energy consumption. Additional advantages can be gained through the production of valuable by-products and reducing waste material handling.
Under certain conditions, environmental benefits can be achieved through utilising spent reagents or by-products in rehabilitation and other earthworks. The improved energy efficiency of the process is achieved by eliminating mechanical mixing stages, reducing pumping requirements and adopting a gravity flow design, in addition to the very low energy requirements to produce the key reactive component.

Operating with a high level of kinetics, processing rates through OCRA, are independent of sediment load. Variance in contaminant loading is managed by the unique control system, which will increase the oxidation level of the main reactor to maintain design throughput.

The OCRA process can be utilised to recover targeted mineral resources for further refining or as a solid metal oxide, generating additional revenue streams for your project (note: full cost recovery will depend upon mineral value, raw water quality and volume). The process’s specific modular design can easily be adapted to target multiple mineral extractions or specific contaminant removal and in the case of many organic compounds, destruction.
Due to the energy and maintenance efficiency of the design, OCRA can be adapted to benefit  isolated assets and communities, as well as decommissioned or abandoned sites.
