Balanced land use

Initially developed to treat Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) and industrial wastewater streams, Evocra has applied the OCRA process to extract valuable minerals and remove a variety of contaminates from water sources with excellent results.

Evocra’s extensive research, through partnerships with industry and research institutions, supports OCRA’s applicability to numerous sectors and contaminants. Evocra has identified 5 key sources of contaminated water that can be treated in a cost efficient manner and in a controlled environment so as to enable balanced land use with immediate downstream consumption:

Mining & minerals processing

  • Mineral extraction from ore processing or tailings re-processing
  • Treatment of waste rock, pre and post deposition to remove the threat of acid mine drainage
  • Treatment of acid mine drainage
  • Treatment of mineral refining waste waters
  • Utilisation of OCRA produced enhanced water within existing mineral processing operations
  • Utilisation of OCRA treated water for on site uses, such as dust suppression
  • Production of high quality environmental discharge water, that is fit for balance land use
  • Production of stable insoluble by-products, which are suitable for surface rehabilitation

OCRA has a demonstrated ability to treat an ever increasing range of contaminants.

  • Impacted surface water treatment
  • Impacted groundwater treatment
  • Contaminated soil washing, with water and fluid treatment.

Oil & gas extraction and refining

  • On and off shore applications for conventional and non-conventional oil and gas
  • On rig compact drilling fluid treatment system, capable of producing;
    • A potassium recovery water for recycling back to the mud tank, during drilling,
    • Removal and destruction of hydrocarbon contaminations from water, and
    • A salt, sediment and other waste product decontaminated, high quality water for environmental discharge and balanced land use, once drill depth is achieved.
  • Oil and gas well stimulation fluid treatment to achieve;
    • Destruction or removal of stimulation fluid additives, and
    • Production of high quality water for environmental discharge and balanced land use
  • Treatment of hydrocarbon impacted wastewater and other process fluids during oil and gas refining
  • Treatment of saline water extracted from wells for environmental discharge or as a pre-treatment to a high value desalination plant
